Mirror, mirror on the wall, how can I clean you best of all?

Looking in the mirror, only to find a streaky finish gazing lovingly back at you? Tired of trying to wipe smudges off your face only to realize it’s something on the mirror’s surface you just can’t get off? We’ve got your solution. Grab a clean, dry cloth and get your cleaning spirit ready for the following easy steps:

  1. Mix 1/3 cup clear ammonia in 1 gallon warm water. Apply with a sponge, or pour the solution into a spray container, and spray it directly on the mirror. Buff gently with your clean, dry, lint-free cloth, chamois, or paper towel. Vinegar is a great substitute for ammonia if you are concerned about children and/or pets getting into your cleaning supplies.
  2. Pour white vinegar into a bowl or pan, grab yesterday’s newspaper, crumple up a section or two, dip it into the vinegar, and apply to the mirror’s surface. Wipe the glass vigorously several times with the newspaper until the mirror is close to being dry. Finish up by shining the mirror with a clean, soft cloth or dry newspaper. This is a great natural solution that recycles old newspaper and won’t be dangerous for kids or pets.
  3. Mix 2 cups isopropyl rubbing alcohol (70 percent solution) – you can pick this up at any drug store in the first aid section, 2 tbsps. liquid dishwashing detergent, and 2 cups water. Stir the solution until well-mixed, and pour into a spray bottle. Spray directly on the smudged mirror. Buff gently with a lint-free cloth, chamois, or paper towel.

Now take a look in the mirror and enjoy your streak-free view! Need more tips? We’re loving the TLC website for great how-tos and DIY tips. Check them out here: http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/home

Shower? Bath? Both?

Your bathroom should be a sanctuary for your beauty and wellness regimen – finding the perfect shower, bath, or combination of the two, is essential to this decorating puzzle. So which do you go with? The shower enclosure? The shower bath? First things first – do you enjoy showering exclusively, or do you enjoy the occasional soak in a nice warm tub after a hard day? With this in mind, begin to evaluate the space you have in your current bathroom to determine the most practical approach – those with a smaller space may want to go with the shower bath combo to save space and money, while those with more room to work with can consider the dramatic shower enclosure.

Shower enclosures are the perfect option for bathing beauties who enjoy a more luxurious showering experience and want to make the most of a larger bathroom space. Shower enclosures tend to be a bit more expensive than a shower bath combo, but at A1 Metro Mirror and Glass we specialize in working with clients using any size budget and any amount of space. Our goal is to provide you with a bathroom bathing experience you will enjoy each day, whether you enjoy a morning shower, an evening shower, or both!
